All systems in the body and the energy field are healthier when they are grounded, nourished and balanced. BHS Practitioners respect your fundamental personal journey. As healers, we maintain a level of integrity that serves the Highest Good in each session. Our mission is to guide and support you in your sacred journey of transformation.
What happens in an energy healing session?
Typically the BHS Practitioner will spend the first fifteen minutes talking with you and learning about what you would like help with. If it is your first session, this amount of time may be longer. During the conversation, he or she is actively listening and observing the energy patterns of the moment while inviting the Highest Good into the session.
During the interview process, the practitioner will ask you questions about your health. While BHS Practitioners are not doctors and therefore do not diagnose illness or prescribe drugs, it is important that you share your health history with the practitioner. In doing so, the practitioner will know how to work with your energy system and which techniques to apply.
Once the discussion is complete, you will lie down on a massage table, fully clothed and, if necessary, supported by a bolster. You may also be covered by a blanket. Typically a BHS Practitioner will first give you a chelation which starts at the feet and ends at the head. A chelation is an energy healing technique that clears, charges and balances the energy field and chakras.
Even though BHS is hands on healing, it differs from massage therapy in that the practitioner’s touch is light. The practitioner may work with your energy without having his or her hands on your body. During the chelation, the BHS Practitioner stays connected to the earth, self, Spirit and you; working with his or her own energy field to facilitate change in your energy field. Energy is transmitted to you through focus, intention, and attention. Once the chelation is complete, the practitioner may use various techniques, learned through years of training at BBHS, until the completion of the healing. These techniques include restructuring chakras, working with energetic relationship cords and many others.
The BHS Practitioner may also give you a hara and Core Star healing. During this type of healing you would also be laying the table and fully clothed. Hara is often referenced in martial arts as the center of being. Hara is where we hold our intentions, life purpose, and life task. At the Brennan School of Healing, practitioners learn how to work with hara and Core Star. Hara is an energetic line that connects you to the earth and the heavens. Core Star is your Divine essence or your unique qualities that nobody else has in the same way as you. Healing hara and Core Star can result in a feeling of purpose, acceptance and a knowing of Divinity on a deep level. BHS Practitioners are skilled in working with hara and Core Star and actively engage these dimensions during healings.
During the session, your job is to receive and relax as much as possible. Each person’s experience during the session is unique and will differ. Some people find it helpful to pay attention to the breath. Others will fall asleep or enter into a half sleep or alpha state of relaxation. A wide range of emotions may arise. Often people find the healings to be very relaxing and experience a floating sensation.
Blocked energy is released, allowing you to have a fuller and more comprehensive sense of self. The relationship between you and your healer is transformative and awakens the interconnection between mind, body, and soul. This relationship may take time to build. We encourage you to soften into transformation and allow the organic process of healing to unfold.
Sessions may last up to ninety minutes. After the session is complete, the healer will spend a short amount time with you. While it is understandable that you might have questions after a healing, generally, it is advisable to keep the conversation to a minimum so that the healing can be fully held and integrated. Questions may be asked at a later time or at the next session. It is not uncommon to have vivid dreams the evening of the healing or in subsequent days.
What does a BHS Practitioner actually do in a healing?
The BHS Practitioner is working with his or her own energy field as well as that of the client’s to facilitate change in the client. Using his or her intuition and inner guidance, the practitioner follows your energy and uses various techniques to release any blocks that may exist and to support the overall fluidity of the energy system. The BHS Practitioner serves as a guide or facilitator. Ultimately you are in charge of the healing. Your willingness and receptivity play a key role in what happens during a session.
Healing may occur on all levels of being - physical, mental, emotion and spiritual. The possibilities are vast and as unique as is each person. While some clients may experience a reversal of a disease process, others may experience healing on a more subtle level, such as a shift in an attitude towards a situation or a shift in inner realization. It is important to remember that healing does not always result in a physically based cure. The possibility of a cure does exist yet healing comes in many forms, often in ways that we have never imagined.
One of the benefits of working with a BHS Practitioner is that you can be assured he or she has worked on his or her own personal process. This plays a significant part in healing since, having done the work on his or herself, the practitioner is better equipped to hold healthy boundaries with you, on all levels. Ideally, during the session, the practitioner is focused and present with a heartfelt intention. He or she provides a sense of safety, inspires trust and respects where you are in your healing process.
What is a "chakra"?
In Sanskrit, “chakra” means wheel of light. Chakras act like energy transformers, either stepping up or stepping down energy. They exist in the aura or Auric Dimension.
There are seven main chakras. They are located on the top of the head (7), middle of the forehead (6), throat (5), heart (4), solar plexus (3), lower belly (2) and between the legs (1). These chakras open up from points along a central energy current that runs along the spine, both on the back and front of the body. There are also numerous smaller chakras located all over the body including individual chakras in the joints, organs, hands and bottoms of the feet.
Chakras are shaped like a wheel, vortex or funnel. When functioning optimally, they spin clockwise and when less than optimal, they might spin clockwise or not at all. Each of the major chakras is associated with an endocrine gland. They also hold an emotional and physiological aspect of health.
The chakra’s job is to receive energy from the Universal Energy Field (the energy all around us) and nourish a particular area of the body. Each chakra holds and is activated by a frequency. The highest frequencies are found in the 7th, 6th and 5th chakras. These chakras are associated with spirituality. The lowest frequencies can be found in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd chakras which are associated with our physical being. The heart, located at the 4th, chakra serves as the bridge between the spiritual or higher chakras and the physical or lower chakras. A particular color and sound (frequency) is also associated with each major chakra.
Please tell me about the Human Energy Field.
According to BHS, the Human Energy Field (HEF) consists of different levels of vibrations or frequencies and chakras. The HEF contains 4 Dimensions or the Physical, Auric, Haric and Core Star dimensions.
The Physical Dimension is our physical body. The body represents the manifestation of how we are running our energy and how we are being in all other dimensions.
The Auric Dimension is where the chakras are located. It contains seven levels which correspond to the seven major chakras. These levels exhibit similar psychological and physical characteristics to the chakras they are associated with. Each level holds a different vibration and may be structured, like lines of light, or unstructured, like fluids or clouds.
The Haric Dimension holds your intention and purpose. It exists on a deeper level than your physical body and auric field and corresponds to your soul’s purpose and life task.
The Core Dimension exists on the deepest level of being and relates to Divine essence. It is here that we find one’s unique core qualities that no one else has in the same way.
Distortions, tears, imbalances and stagnant energy may be present in the HEF. This is typically due to unprocessed trauma held in the field which undermines the natural harmony or ease of the body and results in a state of dis-ease.
When the HEF is well-balanced and healthy, one experiences vitality and a sense of well-being. All systems in the body are aligned and energetically nourished. The immune system is vibrant and life flows. Manifesting your longings is effortless. Despite the many challenges in life, there is a feeling of being grounded and in harmony with the world around you.
Please note that different schools or therapies may describe the HEF in a different way than BHS. Each school has its own vocabulary and views on energy, with no system being right or wrong. Just as Quantum physics demonstrates how a particle and wave can be the same phenomena depending on the perspective, so too can two different people perceive energy in a different way. What’s important is that you follow your own experience and develop a perception of the HEF for yourself. We invite you to explore, experiment, and be curious about your energy field; coming into contact with it in a way that resonates for you.
How does long-distance healing work?
Sometimes it is not practical or even possible to receive a session in person. When this happens, a BHS Practitioner may work with you from long-distance.
A healing is comprised of basic components such as vibration or energy, intention, focus and connection to the Divine Essence within. These components do not change regardless of whether you are located in the same room as the practitioner or very far away.
Physical reality is composed of vibration and frequency. Physicists have demonstrated that not only can a particle be in two places at once, but that particle can also communicate between those two places. A BHS Practitioner also has this ability. The practitioner energetically connects to your body and brings you into the healing space. He or she then works with you as if you were physically present. Using intuition and inner guidance, the practitioner applies various techniques as if you were physically lying on the healing table.
In some cases, the client may not be able to lie on the table due to a variety of reasons such as physical constraints or unresolved trauma. In these situations, both client and practitioner are sitting in chairs and the practitioner may be working with the client from a distance. The healing might involve talking or there may be silence the entire time. By using harmonic induction and healing responses learned at school, the BHS Practitioner works with the client’s field to promote healing and well-being.
What happens in session with a Brennan Integration Practitioner (BIP)?
In a personal process or BIP session, you are a very active participant in your healing in that there is a significant amount of dialogue between you and the BIP. Generally there is no table work and the both you and the BIP are seated the entire time. During the session you share your challenges and where you might be feeling stuck. The BIP responds verbally and energetically. These sessions flow somewhat like a conventional therapy session.
However, there is a great deal going on energetically between the client and healer, making the experience very different. Due to the BIP’s training in psycho-dynamics and energy work, he or she can quickly see what’s blocking your progress and help you actively choose something different.
We highly recommend BIP sessions for anyone who is willing to dive deeply into their healing process and is able to talk about their challenges. BIP sessions can be helpful in healing many types of issues whether they are physical, emotion, mental or spiritual. When combined with energy healings, the healing process quickens and deepens. These sessions may also be long-distance or in-person. Below is a link for the Brennan Healing School’s directory of BIP’s. We encourage you to consider BIP sessions as yet another effective modality for healing.
How many sessions will I need to have?
Since everyone has different goals and challenges, there is no specific number of required sessions. A person may need just one session while another may need many sessions over the course of several months. Since your healing is ultimately your responsibility, how far you take your healing journey is up to you.
The BHS Practitioner is a guide, mirror, and committed listener in the relationship, supporting you and facilitating the process as you heal from within. Only you can determine how many sessions you need. However, we encourage you to receive more than one since it takes time to build the client-healer relationship. Additionally, it might seem like nothing is happening in a session yet much is shifting on a subconscious level.
The positive effects of the work may not be apparent right away thus necessitating additional sessions and dialogue with your healer. We recommend receiving one to three sessions and then, with your BHS Practitioner, developing a healing plan based on your goals and needs.
Will I have to discontinue any other type of treatments?
Energy work is always intended to be in harmony with any medical or complementary treatment already in progress. There are no known negative side effects associated with these treatments.
